How old do I have to be?
Our Space primarily works with young people aged 11-18 years of age, however if you are outside of this age group and would like to take advantage of some of the services and programs we are running, please do call us or email us to discuss.
Can I bring a friend?
Of course, Our Space is for all young people so feel free to bring a friend along.
Does anyone there speak another language?
At this stage no, however we may be able to get a translator or volunteer that can help you. Please let us know your needs and we will do our best to help you out.
When are you open?
For up to date information on our programs, opening times etc – please check out the ‘What’s On’ section of this website.
How much does it cost to come along?
That’s the great news: most of the activities and programs are free.
I need to use a computer but don’t have one. Are there computers at Our Space?
Yes, you can use computers for free ie to complete school work and homework and access social media.
Who can I talk to about a problem I’m having?
One of our counsellors (see “Do you offer counselling?”) or come by and chat with one of the Our Space workers and they can help you out or put you in contact with someone.
Do you offer counselling?
Yes, we offer counselling through a psychologist who comes to Our space twice a week, appointment required. To access this service you will need a referral from a GP. Call 9874 7458 or 9874 7458 to speak to someone about how to get a referral and to book an appointment. Our staff may be busy and unable to answer your call so please leave a message with your contact number and we will return your call.
We also have generalist counsellors who will meet with you at Our Space at a time convenient to you. They can listen to your problems or help you work on issues that you may be facing in your life right now. To book a session call 9334 0111 and ask to speak to one of the Our Space Counsellors.
Both types of counselling services are offered free of charge.
I have something I want to speak to someone about but am worried my parents might find out. Will you tell my parents what I talk to you about?
All Our Space Counselling services are confidential – which means we won’t tell anyone outside the organisation, without your permission, that you are in contact with us, or what you tell us. This includes your parents.
However, in exceptional circumstances if we believe that you or another young person is at serious risk of harm then we would contact services that may help. We would always try to tell you first.
Your counsellor may share some information about your counselling with other staff within Our Space, if appropriate.
Can I just turn up and use the facilities or talk to someone?
Yes, on a Thursday and Friday you can. There will be someone at Our Space between 9.30am and 6pm. Occasionally, this person might be out at meetings or working with other young people so give us a call on 9874 7458 first to be sure.
Can I give suggestions for activities as I’m not keen on the activities you have a the moment?
Yes, we are very happy to hear from you. Let us know your ideas.
Do you have programs in the school holidays?
Yes, please check the website for details. The holiday program is also sent out to schools so you can check at school as well.
